The "Kedma" restaurant is the first meat specialized restaurant in Jerusalem's new Mamila shopping and entertainment center. The modernity and innovation of Kedma fit-in perfectly with the long and fascinating history of the city, thanks to the unique view overseen from its wide balcony –the towering outer walls of the ancient city, the Jaffa gate and the beautiful Dormition church.
The structure of the restaurant is a 110 year old historic gem. bearing witness to the continuousness of Jerusalem, with its large diversity of ethnic groups, ruminants of different rulers and the old stones, which have seen all these come and go. The old Mamila neighborhood was recently renovated, reconstructed and preserved, thus keeping its air of antiquity and authenticity. This vision of the entwining old and new, religious and secular, shows deep in the walls of the restaurant: the arches over doors and windows opening to a magnificent view, the classy but modern internal design.
The choice of the name "Kedma", meaning 'east' in Hebrew, represents both the direction in which it faces and the desire to unite the ancient city with the new. The restaurant hosts pilgrims and tourists of modern times of all religions and languages, and provides them with a taste of the old city of Jerusalem. |
